Overview The California Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District, located in the city of Fresno, is looking for an attorney with exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills to do meaningful legal work and contribute to our system of justice.The attorney’s duties include drafting motions, research memoranda, and proposed opinions in criminal and civil appeals, as well as original proceedings.

Responsibilities Assistant Deputy Clerk I, Assistant Deputy Clerk II, and Assistant Deputy Clerk III: Assistant Deputy Clerk I is the entry-level and Assistant Deputy Clerk II and Assistant Deputy Clerk III are the apprentice level classes in the Deputy Clerk series. Initially under close supervision, the incumbent gains experience and learns clerical, procedural, and legal processing functions of the Clerk’s Office. As experience is gained, there is greater independence and complexity of duties within established guidelines.

This position will perform varied and complex paralegal, legal secretarial, and office administrative duties for Justice Zukin and her staff.

This position provides complex paralegal, legal secretarial and office administrative support to appellate court justices and attorneys. The Judicial Assistant serves the entire division and is assigned as needed to substitute during illnesses, vacations, and other absences as well as to assist with added workload assignments and special projects.
