Overview Associate Justice Armen Tamzarian of Division Four of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, located in Los Angeles, is accepting applications for an appellate attorney. The attorney will work collaboratively with the justice in the preparation of opinions.

Overview The California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division Three located in Santa Ana is now accepting applications for central staff attorney positions.  The positions are being recruited at levels C to Senior and will be staffed at a level commensurate with the qualifications of the selected individuals. Duties of the attorneys include assisting in the drafting of bench memoranda and opinions in assigned cases and reviewing memoranda and proposed opinions.

Overview Presiding Justice Brian M. Hoffstadt of Division Five of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, is accepting applications for a Law Clerk.  The Law Clerk’s primary duties will be finalizing judicial opinions and performing clerical tasks, but with the opportunity to function as a research attorney as time permits by conducting research and analysis, drafting opinions, and providing legal recommendations.  The Law Clerk is expected to begin on or around August 17, 2026, and will serve the position for at least two years.

Overview Presiding Justice Brian M. Hoffstadt of Division Five of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, is accepting applications for a Judicial Assistant to an Appellate Justice position. This position will perform varied and complex paralegal, legal secretarial, and office administrative duties for Justice Hoffstadt and his staff. The position is expected to begin on or around August 17, 2026, and will serve the position for at least two years.

Overview The California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Three is accepting applications for a Writ Attorney to work directly with the justices.  The Writ Attorney will review civil, criminal, and juvenile writ petitions, evaluate the record, research and analyze legal issues, and prepare memoranda and draft orders for presentation to either the Presiding Justice (on urgent matters) or a three-judge panel for review and decision.  The Writ Attorney’s duties will also include preparing draft opinions in writ matters that become a cause for decision.
