Gerald Brown

Gerald Brown was a retired presiding justice of the Court of Appeal in California. He was appointed by Governor Brown, Sr. in 1965 and was confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments. He had a long career in law, beginning with private law practice in 1943 and ending with his retirement from the bench in 1985. He had a Bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California, a Master's degree from the University of Oxford, and a Law degree from Yale University Law School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of several organizations, including the Institute of Judicial Administration, Free & Accepted Masons, Kiwanis Club, and Phi Delta Phi law fraternity. He enjoyed travel and riding motorcycles.
