Justice Earl Johnson, Jr. is a former Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Division Seven. He is the descendant of several pioneer families that settled in the Dakota Territory in the 1880s. His mother was the first in the family to go to college and his father was a traveling salesman. Johnson served in the Navy, was a federal prosecutor, a legal services lawyer, director of the first federal legal services office, a professor of law, and an author. He has a daughter with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, an eldest son with his own TV production company, and a youngest son who is with the staff of the Director of National Intelligence.
