Justice Patti Sue Kitching was appointed to the California Appellate Court in 1992 and was confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments and the electorate in 1994. She had previously served as a Judge in the Superior Court and Municipal Court in Los Angeles County. She has a J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a member of several organizations and was born in Los Angeles in 1941.
