Robert R. Devich
Justice Robert R. Devich was appointed to the Court of Appeal by Governor Deukmejian in 1985 and confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments. He was also elected by the electorate in 1986 and retired from the bench in 1992. Prior to this, he was a Judge of the Superior Court, a member of the Executive Committee, and a Judge of the Municipal Court. He was also a Deputy District Attorney, a Patrolman and Detective for the Beverly Hills Police Department, and a singer with a dance band. He received the Judicial Excellence Award from the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Los Angeles in 1984. He earned his LL.B. from Southwestern University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Portland. He was a Republican, but was formerly a Democrat.
