Robert Leslie Martin was appointed to a newly-created position on the Court of Appeals by Governor Brown Jr. in 1982. Prior to this, he was a judge on the Superior Court of Fresno County from 1977 to 1982. He had a private law practice from 1964 to 1977, and was a Deputy and Senior Deputy District Attorney from 1960 to 1964. He was also a member of the California Judges Association, American Bar Association, Fresno County Bar Association, and served on the Fresno Community Council and Fresno County Volunteer Bureau. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and graduated from Lincoln University Law School in 1958.
