Elizabeth Baron
Elizabeth Baron was born on May 8, 1941, in New York City.
In terms of her education, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of La Verne College of Law in 1976. Prior to that, she attended Los Angeles Valley College from 1961 to 1962. She was admitted to the State Bar on June 28, 1977.
Baron has extensive judicial experience. She served as a private judge for Creative Dispute Resolution. She was also an Associate Justice for the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division 4 from April 30, 1996, to June 30, 1998, after being appointed by Governor Pete Wilson.
Before that, she was a Judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court from January 21, 1992, to April 30, 1996, also appointed by Governor Pete Wilson. She also served as a Judge for the Los Angeles Municipal Court from January 5, 1990, to January 21, 1992, appointed by Governor Deukmejian.
Earlier in her career, she was a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Superior Court from May 26, 1986, to January 5, 1990, and a Referee for the same court from May 1, 1984, to May 26, 1986.
In her professional background, Baron was a partner at Solo & Baron from June 1982 to May 1984. She also worked as a Deputy Attorney General for the California State Department of Justice in the Criminal Division from October 1977 to June 1982.
She gained experience as a Law Clerk in the District Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles County from May to October 1977 and in the Public Defender's Office in Los Angeles County in the summer of 1976. She also had a private practice from 1975 to 1976.
Before her legal career, she was a licensed real estate salesperson in 1972 and worked as a model for the Mary Webb Davis Agency from 1962 to 1975. She also had a stint as an actor at the Pasadena Playhouse from August 1958 to May 1959.
