H. Walter Croskey was born on August 2, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away in the same city on August 29, 2014.

In terms of his education, Croskey completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the USC School of Public Administration in 1955. He then went on to earn his LL.B. from the USC Law Center in 1958.

Croskey had an extensive judicial career. He served as an Associate Justice for the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division 3 from October 14, 1987, until his death in 2014. He was appointed to this position by Governor George Deukmejian. Prior to this, he was a Judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1985 to 1987, also appointed by Governor Deukmejian. He also served as a Judge for the Los Angeles Municipal Court from 1980 to 1984.

Before his judicial appointments, Croskey had a rich professional background in law firms. From 1983 to 1984, he was a partner at Croskey, Hoffman & Klausen in Los Angeles. He also served as a partner at several other law firms in Los Angeles, including Martin, Barker & Croskey from 1979 to 1982, Goodstein, Copes & Field from 1977 to 1979, Jackson & Goodstein from 1971 to 1977, Jackson, Kumler, Copes & Croskey from 1969 to 1971, Hodge, Jackson, Kumler & Croskey from 1968 to 1969, and Hodge, Kumler & Croskey from 1965 to 1968. He started his legal career as an associate at Hodge & MacLachlan in Beverly Hills from 1962 to 1965.

In addition to his legal career, Croskey also served in the U.S. Navy as an O3 - Lieutenant from 1959 to 1962.
