Orville A. “Jack” Armstrong, also known as Jack, was born on January 21, 1929, in Austin, Texas. He passed away on December 22, 2014.

In terms of his education, Jack completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Texas in Austin in 1953. He then went on to earn his LL.B. from the USC Law Center in 1956. A year later, in 1957, he was admitted to the State Bar.

Jack's judicial experience is extensive. He served as an Associate Justice on the California Court of Appeal, in the Second Appellate District, Division 5. His tenure in this role lasted from January 12, 1993, to July 31, 2013, after being appointed by Governor Pete Wilson. Prior to this, he was a Judge on the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1991 to 1993, a position he was appointed to by Governor George Deukmejian.

Before his judicial appointments, Jack had a rich professional background in law and the military. He was a partner at several law firms in Los Angeles, including Baker & MacKenzie from 1988 to 1991, MacDonald, Halsted & Laybourne from 1975 to 1988, and Armstrong & Lloyd from 1967 to 1975. He started his legal career at Gray, Binkley & Pfaelzer, where he worked as an associate before becoming a partner, from 1957 to 1967.

Before his legal career, Jack served in the U.S. Air Force as a Radar Set Technician from 1946 to 1949.
