William Patrick Clark, Jr. was born on October 23, 1931, in Oxnard, California.

In terms of his education, he attended Stanford University from 1949 to 1951. He then went on to study law at Loyola University, graduating in 1955. He was admitted to the State Bar on June 11, 1958.

Clark's judicial experience is extensive. He served as an Associate Justice on the California Supreme Court from March 23, 1973, to 1981. Prior to that, he was an Associate Justice for the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division 1 from July 30, 1971, to March 23, 1973. He was appointed to this position by Governor Ronald Reagan. Before his appellate court appointment, he was a Judge for the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court from 1969 to July 30, 1971, also appointed by Governor Ronald Reagan.

In addition to his judicial roles, Clark has a diverse professional background. He served as the Executive Secretary in the Governor’s Office from September 1967 to February 1969. Before that, he was the Cabinet Secretary in the Governor’s Office from November 1966 to September 1967.

He also has experience in the private sector. He was the President of Clark Land & Cattle Company in Oxnard, CA, starting in 1958. The end date of this role is not specified. From 1956 to 1958, he worked as an Insurance Adjuster for U.S. Fidelity & Guarantee Company in Los Angeles, CA.

Clark also served in the military as an Agent for the Counter-Intelligence Corps in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1954 to 1956.

Finally, he was a Senior Partner at Clark, Cole & Fairfield, a law firm in Oxnard, CA, from 1958 to 1968.
