Governor Newsom Announces Judicial Appointments to the Second District

Governor Gavin Newsom has nominated two justices to the Second District Court of Appeal.

Tari Cody has been nominated to serve as Presiding Justice of Division Six, where she has served as an Associate Justice since 2023. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert.

Nicholas Daum has been nominated to serve as an Associate Justice in Division Four. Daum has served as a Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2022. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Audrey B. Collins.

Both nominations require confirmation by the Commission on Judicial Appointments, which consists of Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Senior Presiding Justice Francis Rothschild.
